Bio

Alexandra Kemény is an assistant professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, where she defended her PhD thesis in 2023. Since 2019, she has been conducting research on composite metal foams and other cellular metal structures. Since the start of her doctoral research, she has continuously participated in OTKA and NKKP projects, as well as in MTA-BME “Lendület” Momentum research groups. She spent a semester at the University of Padova in 2021. During her studies, she was awarded the National Higher Education Scholarship in 2017, followed by the New National Excellence Programme scholarship for five consecutive years from 2018 to 2022. After completing her PhD, she was awarded the MTA Bolyai János Research Scholarship in 2024 for her independent research, as well as a grant from the University Researcher Scholarship Programme. Her achievements earned her the MTA Academic Youth Award in 2025.  Her teaching activities include lecturing at undergraduate courses and specialized graduate courses, as well as conducting laboratory exercises. She serves as the supervisor for numerous student TDK projects and final theses. In 2024, she received the Outstanding Educator Award from the Student Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at BME, and in 2025, she was honoured with the Fekete Zoltán Young Mentor Award of the Hungarian Young Academy.
