Bio

Júlia Katalin Jósvai is a researcher in chemical ecology at the Chemical Ecology Department of the Plant Protection Institute, HUN-REN Centre for Agricultural Research. Her work focuses on identifying semiochemicals that influence the behaviour of pest insects and may contribute to environmentally friendly plant protection, particularly through the development of monitoring and forecasting systems. Her research has been supported by a PD-OTKA grant awarded in 2022, and she was a recipient of the Bolyai János Research Scholarship between 2022 and 2025. Her work bridges fundamental and applied research. For more than a decade, she has been involved in advisory and development activities of the CSALOMON® insect trap system, which originated as a non-profit advisory service of the Plant Protection Institute, and she has also contributed to the development of the system as a project leader. She is actively involved in building scientific communities and strengthening collaboration among researchers both within her institute and internationally. Within the international chemical ecology network E-NICHE, she is involved in organisational and coordination activities. She is divorced and the mother of a daughter.
