Esztella Éva Balla is a senior lecturer at the Department of Fluid Mechanics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Budapest University of Technology and Economics. She defended her PhD thesis in 2020. Her main research topic is the aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of low Reynolds number turbomachinery. She works on the efficiency improvement and noise reduction of these low scale machines. She authored 20 peer-reviewed papers, which have received 25 independent citations so far. She is a reviewer for several impact factor journals as well as for Hungarian and international calls for applications. She is the secretary of the International Conference on Modelling Fluid Flow. She was also a member of the local organizing committee of the 15th European Turbomachinery Conference held in 2023 in Budapest. In 2020 and 2021, she received the grant of the National Talent Support Programme and in 2023 and 2024, the “Back to Science” grant of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics to support her research. She attended international conferences with the support of the NKFIH Scientific Patronage Scholarship in 2022, and with that of the Youth International Conference Scholarship of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2024. She has participated in numerous OTKA grants. Besides her scientific research work, she is an active lecturer at her university: she teaches a subject called “The Technical Basics of Environmental Protection” while also holding seminars and lab practices. She is married with one daughter, Borbála (2022).
