Balázs Ligeti is a bioinformatician and associate professor at the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics at Pázmány Péter Catholic University. He received his PhD degree in 2016 from the Tamás Roska Doctoral School, where his dissertation focused on the application of network models in bioinformatics. Since 2016, he has been continuously building his academic career, first as a researcher, then as an assistant professor from 2020, and since 2022 as an associate professor at the Faculty, and from 2021 to 2024 as an OTKA postdoctoral researcher. His interests focus on microorganisms and mobile genetic elements. For this, he works on new paradigms and non-conventional approaches, such as genomic language models. He has published 37 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and has more than 850 independent citations, while he is also an active member of national and international scientific communities, including the Hungarian Bioinformatics Society and the International Society for Computational Biology. He is married with four children.
