Ivett Szalma obtained her PhD from sociology at Budapest Corvinus University in 2011. Currently, she is working in the Research Center for Social Sciences, an MTA Centre of Excellence, while also being active as an associate professor at Budapest Corvinus University. From 2013 to 2017, she held a postdoctoral fellowship from the University of Lausanne. She has taken part in numerous international research projects, including the Families and Societies FP7 project, and RECWOWE: Reconciling Work and Welfare in Europe FP6 project as a member of the Hungarian research teams. She won several grants of various lengths from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Bolyai Fellowship, Sasakawa Fellowship and mobility grants). She works for a referee for numerous Hungarian and international reviews, and takes in active part in the national and international refereeing of research projects. Her main research interests include family practices, childlessness, attitudes to assisted reproductive technologies, work-life balance, homophobia, international comparative studies. Her recent works can be found in reviews such as Social Inclusion and Gender, Place and Culture, as well as in numerous book chapters. Moreover, she also holds the President’s post at the Family Sociology Section of the Hungarian Sociological Society, and is a member of the editorial board of “Szociológiai Szemle”.
