Gábor Katona graduated as a pharmacist from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Szeged (USZ) in 2013. He obtained his PhD degree from the Doctoral School of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2017, then habilitated in 2023, has three professional exams, and is currently involved in teaching and research as an associate professor at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and Regulatory Affairs of USZ. His research area is the development of nano drug carrier systems applied in the nasal cavity for local, systemic and central nervous system drug therapy. In 2021, he won the János Bolyai Research Scholarship, and the results of his research work to date have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Academic Youth Award in 2024. He takes an active role in the education of scientific youth, is the supervisor of thesis topics, TDK and PhD students, and has been the organizer of the Researchers’ Night programme for years. He has published his main research results in more than 90 scientific publications and one patent. The number of his independent citations is >850, his Hirsch index is 20. He is an active participant in scientific public life, since 2021 he has been a member of the board and secretary of the Pharmaceutical Technology Department of the Hungarian Society for Pharmaceutical Sciences. He is active in the organization of scientific competitions and conferences, and regularly gives lectures at professional training courses. He is married with one child.
