Hungarian Young Academy
The aim of the Hungarian Young Academy is to be the voice of young researchers, representing the interests of their community both in Hungary and abroad. A grassroots scholarly society operating in accordance with the public duties of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Hungarian Young Academy held its inaugural meeting on 7 May 2019. Through its activities, HYA seeks to support the professional development of young researchers and strengthen the relationship between researchers and society. HYA participates in the scientific activities of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in close cooperation with the Academy’s various bodies.

Call for applications for “Fekete Zoltán Young Mentor Award”
On the initiative of the Hungarian Young Academy, the President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences has established an award to recognize and support young researchers who are actively involved in mentoring, as well as supervising papers at National Student Research Conferences (OTDK). Applications must be submitted by 1 October 2025.

First Young Career Path Seminar at HUN-REN Biological Research Centre with HYA members
Members of the Hungarian Young Academy are actively engaged not only in national but also in local initiatives supporting young researchers. A brilliant example of this was the First Young Career Path Seminar, held on 30 September 2025 at the HUN-REN Biological Research Centre in Szeged.

HYA plays a key role in joint survey on the situation of researchers in Hungary in cooperation with Hungarian Academy of Sciences
After a year of preparatory work, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Hungarian Young Academy have reached out to more than 40,000 researchers in Hungary or linked to Hungary with a questionnaire, asking them to assess the situation, level of satisfaction and problems of researchers. The deadline for completion is 30 June 2025.
