The members of the Hungarian Young Academy consider it important to support students and researching fleeing Ukraine by offering them job opportunities, thesis supervision or participation in their university lectures and conferences to the extent possible.

Bolyai Mentoring Programme 2022 – Call for applications
In 2022, the Hungarian Young Academy once again announces its mentoring programme to support applicants for the János Bolyai Postdoctoral Research Scholarship. Applicants selected for mentoring will receive advice on improving their applications in two consultation sessions. The aim of the mentoring is to provide mentorees with independent professional feedback and advice, even for long-term career planning. Applicants who will have successfully obtained a Bolyai Scholarship will commit to mentor future applicants in the next round of the mentoring programme.

Survey on the situation of researchers under 45
The Hungarian Young Academy, in cooperation with fellow researchers from the MTA Library and Information Centre, ELKH Centre for Economic and Regional Studies and Corvinus University, and with the help of TÁRKI, will conduct a questionnaire survey entitled “Youth in Academia” between 6 September and 8 October 2021.

4th Young Researchers’ Forum in the framework of 2020 Festival of Hungarian Science
The Hungarian Young Academy usually holds one of its biggest public events, the Young Researchers’ Forum, in May, following the General Assembly of MTA. Now in its fourth year, the Forum explores a topic of interest to young researchers through short presentations, followed by questions and comments from the audience. This year, due to the coronavirus epidemic, the programme was held in an unconventional virtual format in the autumn, in the context of the Festival of Hungarian Science. The topic was the preparation for the title of Doctor of Science, the doctoral procedure and the role of the title in academic careers.

Twelve new members and new Executive Board presented at General Assembly of Hungarian Young Academy
The main topic of the General Assembly was the cooperation between the organisation and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. In compliance with the MTA’s current epidemiological measures, members could attend the meeting both in person in MTA’s Ceremonial Hall and online on 3 September 2020.
