HYA members attend GYA-IAP workshop on trust in science
In the framework of the World Science Forum, organised once again in Budapest by MTA and prestigious international science organisations from 20 to 23 November 2024, the Global Young Academy and the InterAcademy Partnership held a workshop investigating trust in science and its loss. The Hungarian Young Academy could also delegate participants to the one-day event.

Application for Membership in the HYA – 2025
The Hungarian Young Academy (HYA) is pleased to announce the opening of its membership application procedure for the term of 2025–2030. The deadline for submitting applications is 3 December 2024.

“Mothers in Science” Action Plan to improve the situation of female researchers now available in Hungarian
Female researchers are faced with distinctive challenges all over the world. In 2023, Mothers in Science, a global non-profit organisation drew up an action plan to facilitate the situation of women scientists, which is now available in Hungarian, thanks to the translation prepared by the volunteers of the Hungarian Young Academy.

Research reveals Hungarian scientific community may be thrown back in European Research Area due to EU funding ban
The suspension of participation in Erasmus and Horizon Europe programmes of 21 model-changing Hungarian universities run by public interest trusts may have serious and long-lasting consequences for the entire community of Hungarian research and higher education. According to the summary published in Nature, a leading scientific journal, the negative implications of the suspension can be felt not only by those working at suspended universities but also by the faculty of state-run universities and research institutes.

ALLEA admits Hungarian Young Academy into its membership
On 22 May 2024, the General Assembly of ALLEA accepted the application for membership of the Hungarian Young Academy, and HYA adhered to the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities, simultaneously with the Belgian (Flemish) and Spanish Young Academies.
