György Tóth is an assistant professor at the University of Pécs, Institute of Physics. He is a teacher of physics and mathematics and received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Pécs in 2016. His doctoral dissertation focused on the generation of ultrashort pulses by nonlinear optics and undulator radiation. Currently, he is working on the generation of terahertz pulses of extremely high energy by optical rectification in specially shaped nonlinear materials and the application of these terahertz pulses for the manipulation of electrons and protons. His main educational activities are related to mathematical methods in physics as well as to femtosecond and nonlinear optics.
In recognition of his scientific activities, he was awarded with the Bolyai János Research Scholarship and also received the Young Excellence of the PTE Talent Center Award in 2019. In addition, he received the Bolyai+ Scholarship for Young Instructors, Researchers in Higher Education to support his activity in youth education. He received the Publication Award of the Faculty of Science of the University of Pécs for his significant publishing activities. He regularly contributes as a reviewer to several prestigious scientific journals.
He is married with two children, Abigél (2015) and András (2017).
