We warmly congratulate HYA member Kata Dévai, as well as Enikő Kubinyi and Attila Ősi, alumni members of the Hungarian Young Academy, who were honoured with the Academic Award today at the 200th General Assembly of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Kata Dévai is a senior research fellow at the HUN-REN–Eötvös Loránd University Interdisciplinary Archaeology Research Group. She received this prestigious award for her comprehensive analysis of Roman-era glass vessels excavated in the territory of the ancient province of Pannonia (present-day Hungary), based on their colour, quality, manufacturing technology, decoration, and details, as well as for developing a Hungarian-language terminology and new typology that is in line with modern principles, easy and effective to use, and expandable.
Enikő Kubinyi is a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and a full professor and head of the Department of Ethology at the Faculty of Science, Eötvös Loránd University. She received the award for her research, which contributes to understanding healthy ageing in dogs and providing a scientific foundation for modern companion animal care practices by innovatively integrating cognitive and comparative ethology, behavioural genetics, and non-invasive neurobiology, and for her internationally outstanding achievements in exploring the emotional and cognitive foundations of the human-companion animal relationship.
Attila Ősi is a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and is a full professor and chair of the Department of Paleontology at the Centre for Earth Sciences, Eötvös Loránd University. He received the award for his research on the faunistic, paleozoogeographic, and paleoecological aspects of the Cretaceous archipelago of Europe, as well as his paleobiological studies of Mesozoic reptiles, with particular emphasis on the study of feeding habits, as well as for his internationally recognized achievements in the discovery and comprehensive documentation of the Upper Cretaceous vertebrate fossil site at Iharkút.
We are particularly delighted that in 2026, the Academic Gold Medal was presented to mathematician László Lovász, a full member and former president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and a former member of the HYA Advisory Board (2019–2025), who will also serve as a speaker at the 10th Young Researchers Forum to be held on 6 May 2026. May we offer our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Lovász on behalf of the entire HYA membership!
