Female researchers have to tackle numerous challenges during their careers; their situation is special both in Hungary and abroad. Research has pointed out the need to implement continuous science policy reforms in order to support the successful professional performance of this group of researchers. Mothers in Science is a global non-profit grassroots organisation registered in France, which was founded by Isabel Torres and Sonal Bhadane in 2019 with the objective to provide support to women researchers, especially in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM). Mother in Science, which brings together researchers and organisations from all over the world, came up with an action plan in 2023. In this plan, it called for immediate action by leaders to support mothers working in academia and to introduce measures to address systemic inequalities and increase the proportion of women in STEMM fields. The HYA Committee on the Status of Female Researchers and Researchers with Young Children has now prepared the (unofficial) Hungarian translation of the above action plan and shared it on its website.
