Invitation to the 10th Young Researchers’ Forum – The various facets of a research career: challenges and prospects

This year’s Young Researchers’ Forum and the subsequent HYA General Assembly will be held for the tenth time on 6 May from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). The morning session of the programme aims to reflect on the current living conditions, mental well-being, and perspectives of young researchers in Hungary by analyzing the results of the 2025 survey conducted jointly by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) and the Hungarian Young Academy, partly through the presentations of HYA members, and partly through the contributions of well-known speakers with diverse experiences. Our speakers will include HYA members Júlia Koltai and Karolina Eszter Kovács, who will explore new aspects of the 2025 comprehensive, as well as ERC-winning researcher Tamás Faragó and László Lovász, former president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, who will share their personal experiences and discuss the dilemmas and contradictions inherent in the life of a researcher.

The detailed programme (in Hungarian) for the morning event is available here. Participants are kindly asked to register online in advance via the MTA event calendar at mta.hu.

In the afternoon, in keeping with tradition, a HYA General Assembly will be held  in a relaxed atmosphere, also open to the general public, where the newly elected board will be introduced, newly admitted members will be presented, and we will bid farewell to our alumni. Registration is not required for this part of the programme.
