Laureates for 2025 edition of Fekete Zoltán Young Mentor Award

The award, established in memory of Zoltán Fekete, late member of the Hungarian Young Academy who passed away tragically young, wishes to continue Zoltán Fekete’s legacy and recognize and support young researchers who are actively involved in supervising scientific student research papers and who especially excel at mentoring.

This year’s call, announced for the first time, attracted a large number of applications, 83 in total, all of which represented a very high standard. The Awards Committee welcomed the interest surrounding the award, which clearly demonstrates the extent and depth of mentoring work carried out by young researchers, as well as the need for the proper recognition of this activity.

The Awards Committee ranked the applications in consideration of a variety of factors, and has selected the following winners for 2025:

  1. Milán Csaba BADICS – Budapest Corvinus University
  2. Alexandra KEMÉNY – Budapest University of Technology and Economics
  3. Gyula NAGY – Szeged University

The award ceremony will take place on 12 November 2025, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Ceremonial Hall of the Palace of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, as part of HYA’s MTA200 anniversary science festival program. The Young Mentor Award will be announced again in 2027. We sincerely congratulate this year’s winners and wish them continued success in their valuable mentoring work!
