Funding Calls
The table below aims to offer a monthly breakdown of the expected dates of announcement of the major Hungarian and foreign calls for research proposals. If you hover the cursor over the coloured cells, a pop-up info box will appear, showing the name of the call, who can apply, the maximum amount of funding, and also whether there is a related mentoring programme organised by HYA to support the application process of young researchers. By clicking on the cells, you may access further information about the details of the specific calls. Different colours are only used to facilitate navigation among the rows of the table.

Statement on calls for applications that have not been announced in 2025/2026
One of the strongest criticisms expressed in the MTA–HYA survey carried out on the Hungarian research environment was the lack of predictability, in relation to research careers in general and to the domestic grant system in particular. While it is important to continuously update and fine-tune the system, it is even more crucial that research careers can be planned in the long run and built on stable foundations.
The Hungarian Young Academy (HYA) is committed to promoting the predictability and transparency of grant opportunities for young researchers. To this end, if a call for applications relevant to young researchers is not announced in a given application round, HYA will contact the institutions concerned, request information, and publish it on this page.
In the 2025/2026 application round, we have requested and received official information regarding the following two calls that are of particular importance to young researchers:
