The Hungarian Young Academy held its annual General Assembly in the framework of the 9th Young Researchers’ Forum. The event was kicked off by a short concert of the Kosbor Ensemble entitled “The Silence of Your Arms”, composed of poems (set to music) by Miklós Radnóti. The fact that the singer of the ensemble is HYA member Kata Horváti made this performance even more unique.
The concert was followed by the introduction of the members of the newly elected Executive Board: Bernadette Kun, former board member and incoming co-chair, András Abonyi, Dávid Havasi, Réka Lukács and Tamás Ruppert, new board members, and Boldizsár Szentgáli-Tóth remaining co-chair, and Zsuzsa Bagoly, starting her second term on the board.
The Co-chairs thanked the members of the previous board for their work, including former co-chair Imola Wilhelm, and former board members Bálint Hartmann, István Gábor Hatvani and Katalin Lipták.
It is with great anticipation that the audience listened to the introduction of the new HYA members admitted in 2025, who were now handed over their membership certificate.
In the next part of the programme, committee coordinators briefly reported on the work of each HYA committee, providing an overview of the diverse activities of the Hungarian Young Academy for the new members so that the latter could connect with the advocacy of young researchers’ interests.
Finally, those members of the brand new alumni who could honour the event with their presence (Orsolya Dömötör, István Gábor Hatvani, Bálint Hartmann, Gábor Kecskés and György Tóth) said goodbye to the young researchers’ community, sharing some pieces of advice and fun-filled recollections from the past five years with the new members of the Hungarian Young Academy.
After a short break, the programme continued with a closed session, where the members discussed the current tasks of HYA and its own programmes to be organised in connection with the bicentenary of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
