After obtaining her PhD with summa cum laude at E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd University in Budapest, she worked at the Leiden Observatory and at the European Space Agency with postdoctoral fellowships. After spending six years in the Netherlands as a young researcher, she returned to Hungary in 2014, when she won a Momentum Fellowship from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Currently, she leads an international research group at Konkoly Observatory with the support of a Starting Grant from the European Research Council. With her colleagues, she uses the most advanced astronomical instruments and computer simulations to study how Sun-like stars and their planetary systems form. During her career, she made observations with the world&#8217;s largest ground-based and space telescopes. She won the Junior Prima Prize (2014), the L&#8217;Or\u00e9al-UNESCO For Women in Science Hungarian Prize (2015), the L&#8217;Or\u00e9al-UNESCO International Rising Talents Award in Paris (2017) and the Detre Prize of the E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd Physical Society (2018). She is a member of the International Astronomical Union, the Hungarian Astronomical Association, the MTA Astronomy and Space Physics Committee, and the Women in Research Careers MTA Presidential Committee.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u00c1gnes K\u00f3sp\u00e1l is a physicist and astronomer.
